Ada East Assembly members reject president nominee

Members of the Ada East District Assembly (AEDA) has rejected president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's nominee for the assembly, madam Sarah Nogbakie Pobbie who was until her nomination an assembly member of the Ada East District Assembly.

Out of the 36 member electoral college made up of 20 elected and 16 government appointees, 13 " YES" and 23 "NO" were counted at the end of the polls.

The result obtained, made the greater Accra regional director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Kwame Amoah declared that, the nominee, madam Sarah Nogbakie Pobbie has been rejected by the Assembly. According to him, this means the president would have to re nominate a different person or come back to the polls in 10 days time.

Greater Accra regional minister, Ishmael Ashitey expressed a deep worry about how the polls ended. Mood at the time made him denied media interview. However, deputy greater Accra regional minister, Elizabeth Sackey, who out of turmoil was able to speak to the media said, the members has not rejected the nominee but has rejected the chunk of development coming to the district.

Queen mother of Ada Adibiawe, Naana Adiki Adi (I) who witness the proceedings of the polls expressed disappointment in the members and described the decision of the assembly members as "shameless" and advised that the members have a change in decision for the progress of Ada.

"I am very disappointed and I wonder why they did what they did, this is not an achievement and it now time they stop behaving this way, this is not the first time and this is why Ada is still behind development"

Madam Sarah Nogbakie Pobbie, the nominee notwithstanding the outcome of the polls, thanked the president for having faith in her and also thanked the assembly members for their support, but urged them to have a change in decision to catapult development of Ada East

The people of the community also expressed worried and urged the president to maintain the nominee and not to think of changing her
