C/R: SPINNERS URGED TO PAY ROYALTIES ON TIME

The National coordinator for the Ghana Music Rights Organization, Yaw Osborn has urged spinners in the Central region to always pay their royalties to Ghambro on time.

According to Mr. Osborn, it is very saddening when Spinners spend huge amounts of money to manufacture spinning machines for renting, yet doesn't take the paying of royalties to musicians serious.

He explained that music is somebody's intellectual registered property and as such, anybody that uses it without the notice of the owner can be arrested and prosecuted according to copyright law hence their slogan "pay before play".

He warned spinners to stay away from politics in (Ghambro) as they can end up in court and rather concentrate on paying their royalties to the organization which is 250 cedis for the whole year.

He was speaking at a meeting held at the Center for National Culture in Cape Coast to educate spinners on the need to pay for the songs they use and its related Consequences that exist for offenders

He ceased the opportunity to introduce the Central regional representative for GHAMBRO, Kakra Ewusie to the spinners and directed that all payment of royalties to GHAMBRO in the Central region be made to him and no other person.

Kakra Ewusie advised all spinners to join any of the Spinners association to enjoy benefit of paying lesser royalties of 250 cedis yearly or pay up to 600gh when arrested without the necessary documents
